Data Deletion Instructions

Last Updated: August 24, 2026

1. Overview

You can ask us to delete your AloPortal account and personal data at any time, and we will. This page explains exactly how to ask, what actually gets removed, what we keep, and why. We would rather tell you precisely what happens than promise you a clean sweep that no platform handling payments can honestly deliver.

2. How to Request Deletion

The fastest route is inside the app. Sign in, open Settings > Account > Delete account, type DELETE to confirm, and your account is scheduled for deletion 30 days later. Until that date everything keeps working and you can cancel by signing in and pressing Keep my account. We email you when it is scheduled and again if you cancel.

If you cannot sign in, email us. A member of our team handles every request personally.

Send an email to support@aloportal.com with the subject line: Data Deletion Request

Please include:

  • The email address on your AloPortal account
  • Your portal URL or slug, if you have one
  • Whether you want your whole account deleted, or only specific data

This is the fastest route, not the only valid one. If you make the request some other way, or to someone else here, it still counts and we will still act on it.

3. What We Delete

When we close your account we permanently remove:

  • The details that identify you: your email address, name, username, and profile photo
  • Your sign-in credentials and connected sign-in methods, such as Google
  • Images, files, and video you uploaded to AloPortal
  • Connected social accounts (Instagram, TikTok), including their access tokens and anything we imported through them. We also delete these immediately whenever you disconnect an account, without waiting for an account deletion
  • Your conversations with Alo, our AI assistant
  • Course reviews you wrote
  • Your notification settings and notification history

Where a social platform sends us a deletion request on your behalf, for example through Meta's data deletion callback, we honor it the same way and delete the imported data and access tokens for that connection.

4. What We Anonymize

Some records cannot simply be erased, because they describe money that moved between two people. A payment involves a buyer and a creator, and deleting one side's copy would destroy the other side's record of their own sale or purchase.

So for those, we remove what links them to you rather than removing the record. Your email, name, username, and account identifiers come off. What remains is the transaction on its own, with no person attached to it.

We do not attempt to re-identify anonymized data, and we do not link it back to you. One honest consequence: once a record has been anonymized we can no longer find it for you either, so we cannot answer a later request for a copy of it.

5. What We Keep, and Why

A short list of records survives deletion, each for a specific reason:

  • Payment and payout records. Tax and accounting law requires us to keep records of money that moved, and the creator or buyer on the other side of your transaction needs their own copy to stay accurate
  • Chargeback and dispute evidence. Kept so that we, and the creator involved, can establish or defend a claim
  • Fraud and abuse signals. Kept to protect other people on the platform from repeat harm
  • Your email on our do-not-contact list, if you unsubscribed. It is the only way to be certain we never email you again

We are not going to name a retention period in years here until we can state one we are certain applies to you, rather than a number copied from another company's jurisdiction.

6. Your Portal and Your Buyers

If you sell on AloPortal, closing your account affects other people, so it is worth being exact about it.

  • Your portal stops accepting new sales straight away and its public page goes offline
  • Active subscriptions to your portal are cancelled at the end of the period your subscribers have already paid for, so nobody is billed again
  • Content your buyers already purchased goes offline with your portal. Their record of the purchase remains, but the content itself is no longer reachable once your portal is down. Please tell your audience before you go
  • We do not issue automatic refunds. For purchases on your portal you are the merchant of record, not AloPortal, so refund requests are between you and your buyer

If you only want your page to stop being public, you do not need to delete your account. See the first question below.

7. Processing Time

We act on deletion requests without undue delay and within 30 days of verifying the request. If a request is unusually complicated we may need longer, and we will tell you before the 30 days are up rather than after.

Our encrypted backups are a separate matter. Deleted data can persist in them until they rotate out on their normal schedule. While it sits there it is not accessed, not used, and not restored to live systems for any purpose other than recovering from a disaster.

8. Verifying It Is You

Before we delete anything we confirm that the request came from the account holder. Deletion cannot be undone, and we are not willing to let someone else trigger it on your behalf.

The 30 days start once we have verified you, not when the first email arrives. We will not delete an account because someone else asked us to, including someone claiming to act for you.

9. Services We Use

Some of your data sits with the companies that run parts of AloPortal for us: Stripe for payments, Mux for video, SendGrid for email, Featurebase for our help center and support messages. When you ask us to delete your data, we instruct them to delete theirs.

We are careful to say instruct rather than delete. Their own legal retention obligations are theirs, not ours, and can differ from ours.

If you connected a Stripe account to get paid, that account belongs to you and is governed by your agreement with Stripe. We disconnect it from AloPortal. We cannot and do not delete it.

One thing no platform can undo: a portal is a public web page, so anything that was public may already have been saved, shared, or cached elsewhere by other people. Deleting your account removes it from AloPortal, not from the internet.

10. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take down just one portal?

Yes, and you do not need to delete your account to do it. Open the portal's designer, go to Settings → Portal, and choose Deactivate Portal. Deactivation hides your public page immediately and cancels active subscriptions at the end of their billing period, while your content stays saved so you can reactivate later. It does not erase your data. For that, request account deletion as described above.

What happens to subscriptions?

If you subscribe to creators, those subscriptions are cancelled and you are not billed again. If you are a creator, your subscribers are not charged again either: their subscriptions end when the period they already paid for runs out, and your portal goes offline. Please give them notice first.

What happens to my payout history?

Payout and payment records are kept for tax and accounting compliance, as described in section 5. Ask us before you delete your account if you want a copy for your own records. Afterwards those records are anonymized, which means we can no longer connect them to you in order to send them to you.

Can I change my mind?

Tell us before we process the request and we will stop. Once an account has been deleted it cannot be restored, and neither can the content in it. If you are unsure, deactivating your portal is the reversible option.
