I never start a real drawing cold. These five warm-ups take ten minutes and loosen up my hand and my brain.
1. A page of circles
Fast, overlapping circles in different sizes. Don't fix any of them.
2. Bean people
Draw ten bean shapes, then give each one arms, legs and a mood.
3. One object, three ways
Pick something on your desk and draw it cute, realistic and as a tiny monster.
4. Faces in a minute
Six small faces, each with a different feeling: happy, sleepy, grumpy, surprised, shy and proud.
5. A tiny scene
One small box with a character doing something. That's your first little story of the day.
Tip
Use a pen for warm-ups. No erasing means no overthinking.
